Nvidias $1 Billion Option Dispute: Does This Early Advisor Have a Case?

In 1993, Nvidia gave an early advisor 25,000 stock options. He now says the company shorted him 9,375 of them, a slice worth about $1.05 billion today. Nvidia never called his paperwork fake, he says. It argued he was 30 years too late. Sponsored Sponsored A Houseboat Demo and a Letter From Jensen Huang The advisor is Eric Gullichsen, a virtual reality pioneer. In 1993, Nvidias founders visited his Sausalito houseboat to see his graphics work. Jensen Huang, Nvidia‘s chief executive, invited him onto its Technical Advisory Board. Huang’s letter offered 25,000 options that “vests over 4 years.” A stock option is the right to buy shares later at a fixed price. Vesting is the timetable for getting that right. The signed option agreement said something else. Gullichsen quotes it vesting fully “upon the expiration of one year from Grant Date.” A former Nvidia advisor says a stock option mistake from 1993 may have cost him more than $1 BILLION. His disputed 9,375 options would be worth roughly $1.01 BILLION today but Nvidia says the decades-old claim came too late. Sponsored Sponsored In April 1996, Nvidias finance chief wrote that only 15,625 options had vested. That matches 10 quarters on a four-year clock. Gullichsen bought those shares and forgot about them. Jensen Huangs 1993

Musk Wants to Rename SpaceXAI Again. The AI Brand Barely Survived a Quarter

Elon Musks artificial intelligence (AI) company took the name SpaceXAI on July 6. Ninety days later, Musk says that name is going too. The new name is SpaceXSI. The SI stands for Super Intelligence, a phrase President Donald Trump now wants Washington to use instead of AI. Sponsored Sponsored 3 Posts on X Started the SpaceXAI Name Change It began with three short lines. “No more AI,” Musk posted early Sunday. Then “SI.” Then “Its better.” No more AI SI Its better Notably, however, nothing else has changed. The website and social accounts still said SpaceXAI as of this writing. On September 29, Trump signed an order telling federal agencies to swap AI for SI in letters, reports, and websites. The wording leaves little room. “…the executive branch… will not acknowledge the usage of ”Artificial Intelligence“ and ”AI“ in any applicable setting,” read an excerpt in the White House order. The White House argues that “artificial” makes the technology sound like a copy of human thinking. That same day, Musk signed a voluntary safety pact at the White House. The

Iran's Oil Minister Quits Days Before Its Last Cargoes Run Out

Irans oil minister, Mohsen Paknejad, quit on Sunday. State media gave no reason. Hours earlier, he said oil money was still coming in. Yet Iran loaded no oil at its export terminals in September, Fortune reported. That had not happened since the 1979 revolution. Sponsored Sponsored Irans Last Oil Cargoes Are Running Out An official in President Masoud Pezeshkian‘s office announced that the president had accepted the resignation. Shortly before the news broke, state media carried Paknejad’s last public remarks on Irans oil income. “…revenues of the oil that we have sold are still coming and that will continue God willing,” Paknejad said. That money is from oil sold before mid-July. Then the US Navy reimposed its blockade of Iranian ports. Since then, Iran has lived off crude already sitting on tankers outside the blockade. Kpler, a ship-tracking firm, put that stock at 90 million barrels in mid-July. By early September, it was about 29 million. Kpler said it could be gone by mid-October. Payments may trail into December. Even those are hard to collect, President Masoud Pezeshkian has said. Bitcoins $85,000 recovery awaits proof that ETF investors kept buying after payrolls

Bitcoins recovery above $85,000 faces a demand test after a sharp fall in bets on another Federal Reserve rate hike. Japan adds Garantex to list of Russia sanctions over Ukraine war

The Japanese government has added Russian cryptocurrency exchange Garantex to its expanded list of sanctions against Russia, citing the continuing war in Ukraine. Officials added 33 organizations and nine individuals linked to Russia to its asset-freeze list that restricts payments and capital transactions with the targeted parties, according to a joint statement issued on Friday by Japans Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Garantex was previously sanctioned by the US, the EU and other jurisdictions for helping Russian entities evade financial restrictions. The new measures also target 35 vessels identified as part of the so-called “shadow fleet” that carries Russian oil and helps Moscow evade existing sanctions. The measures specifically restrict services including repairs and insurance to cover the designated vessels. Related: Sanctioned crypto exchange Garantex shifts millions as it reboots platform Through the sanctions, Japan aims to help reduce Russias earnings from crude oil exports. Still, Garantex may already have had a contingency plan in place allowing it to skirt the impact of US actions, according to blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs, as Cointelegraph reported in August 2025. The US Treasurys Office of Foreign Assets Control then sanctioned Garantex a second time, along with its successor, Grinex. However, TRM

Bitcoin Cores new fix closes gap that could redirect funds without stealing keys

Bitcoin Core has added a safeguard against signing transactions that may not bind funds to the payment destination a user approved. Related Asset Bitcoin #1 BTC · $85,389.36 24-hour change: up 0.61% Loading price history… 24H Up 0.61% 7D Up 0.79% 30D Up 7.03% The change, merged into Bitcoin Cores master development branch on Sept. 25, targets a narrow flaw in partially signed Bitcoin transactions, or PSBTs, that could produce a valid signature without protecting the intended output. Bitcoin Optech highlighted the update on Oct. 2. The issue does not expose a user‘s private key, but creates a different risk: a signature can remain valid even when the transaction’s recipient is changed under specific conditions. The weakness involves SIGHASH_SINGLEwhich is a signing mode designed to commit an input to the output in the corresponding position. If the transaction contains no output at that position, the protection breaks down differently depending on the type of Bitcoin being spent. For legacy inputs, the missing-output case can produce a signature over a fixed hash value. Bitcoin Core developers said that signature may then be reusable against other unspent outputs controlled by the same key when the same structural conditions are present. SegWit v0 transactions retain stronger protections because the

New Treasury rules could change how stablecoin issuers get your dollars back

US government debt is one of the easiest assets in the world to borrow against, which lets financial companies get cash without giving up their investments for good. Washington is rewriting the rules for that borrowing, and the result will reach crypto through the companies that keep Treasury securities behind their dollar tokens. The SEC wants more Treasury transactions to pass through a central clearinghouse, an institution that becomes the buyer to each seller and the seller to each buyer. If one trading company fails, the other side can look to the clearinghouse to complete the covered trade, under its rules, instead of trying to recover everything from the failed company itself. Providing that kind of protection takes a lot of money, so the new system will also affect what companies pay to trade and borrow. Stablecoin issuers depend on those services when they need to convert reserve assets into dollars for customers, so the cost and availability of Treasury trading affect how well their tokens work. The SECs deadlines are Dec. 31 for eligible outright purchases and sales of Treasuries, followed by June 30, 2027, for eligible repurchase agreements, known as repos. Commissioner Mark Uyeda said on Sept. 22 that the agency didnt currently

Shiba Inu (SHIB) Goes Live on Solana Network

Shiba Inu (SHIB), one of the largest meme coins in the crypto space, has arrived on Solana via Sunrise, now providing Solana market access to the Ethereum tokens canonical form. The update allows SHIB to be accessed and traded directly within the expansive decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem of Solana without the need to jump out of the ecosystem to access the crypto token. Solana described Shiba Inu as “one of the largest communities in crypto” and pointed out how the project has expanded beyond its origins as a meme cryptocurrency with a dog-themed mascot. Crucially, the Solana debut doesnt mean SHIB is leaving Ethereum. The original form of SHIB is an ERC-20 token. Nor does it mean Shibarium is moving to Solana. Sunrise is simply bringing in the canonical Solana representation of the asset to be able to trade within Solanas markets. Wormhole Labs-powered Sunrise is an asset gateway designed to bring assets from external ecosystems to Solana. This includes the creation/recognition of a canonical Solana token, provisioning liquidity, and integration with wallets, DEXs, and aggregators. Thats important to note because otherwise multiple unofficial versions of the same cryptocurrency can exist on a blockchain. As a result, there may be fragmented liquidity. On the other hand, Sunrise

Indias local crypto exchanges get just 0.7% of inflows, Chainalysis reports

India‘s crypto users send substantial value to centralized exchanges, but domestic platforms receive just 0.7% of exchange value in Chainalysis’s new regional report. Its Brazil chapter puts Brazil-based exchanges at 12.5% of inflows. The contrast separates two business questions that adoption figures can blur: how much activity is associated with a country, and how much its domestic platforms capture. Indias transaction withholding can reduce the cash available for another trade. Its role in venue choice remains an operator explanation, rather than a measured cause of the split. The findings appeared in Chainalysis‘s CSAO chapter on Sept. 30 and Latin America chapter on Sept. 23. Their main annual reporting window runs from July 2025 through June 2026, while the share observations’ precise dates remain unspecified in the chapters prose. The new publications describe earlier activity, ending before October. Related Company Chainalysis Blockchain detective Chainalysis attributes $88.4 billion in centralized-exchange inflows to India-based users during that annual period, making India the largest such market in Central and Southeast Asia and Oceania. That activity can reach platforms based abroad. The Indian chapter reports that domestic platforms‘ share of exchange value received fell from around 7% to 0.7%, with a sharp decline in mid-2022. Brazil’s chapter describes a different
