Ireland‘s New AML Strategy Brings ’Enhanced Checks on Private Crypto Wallets

In briefIreland published its first National Anti-Money Laundering Strategy on Thursday, with crypto-asset rules among the reforms it sets out.The final elements of the EU Transfer of Funds Regulation will bring enhanced checks on transfers involving private crypto wallets and stricter due diligence on overseas crypto firms. The strategy builds on a 30-point action plan published in June that promised enhanced safeguards around crypto-assets and digital finance. Ireland published its first national anti-money laundering strategy on Thursday, including crypto measures targeting wallets held outside regulated firms. Most of the EU Transfer of Funds Regulation has already been implemented in Ireland, with the Department of Finance saying that the remaining elements introduce new obligations for crypto-asset service providers, requiring “enhanced checks” on transfers involving private crypto wallets and stricter due diligence when dealing with overseas crypto firms. That mechanism is the FATF travel rule, under which information on the originator and the beneficiary must accompany a transaction. The strategy document records that it arrived alongside MiCA, which created crypto-asset service providers as a category of regulated entity across the bloc. Ireland gave crypto firms less room to adjust than most member states, allowing a 12-month grandfathering window against the 18 months the regulation permits, according to

Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini reported a 37% year-over-year increase in second-quarter revenue to $45.5 million, while posting a $107.7 million net loss as exchange trading weakened. Exchange revenue fell 38% to $12.5 million as trading volume dropped to $3.8 billion from $11.3 billion, the company said Thursday. Including interest income, services revenue and interest income totaled $26 million. Meanwhile, transaction losses rose to $20.1 million from $3.6 million a year earlier, primarily due to a $16.1 million provision for credit losses tied to an identity fraud event involving the credit card portfolio. Gemini said the elevated provision was concentrated among affected accounts and did not reflect broader deterioration in the portfolio. Operating expenses rose 24% year-over-year to $122.4 million, though they fell 15% from the first quarter as the company continued cost-cutting measures announced earlier this year. Geminis stock price rose 3% during regular trading on Thursday, but fell nearly 5% in pre-market trading on Friday following the earnings release, according to Yahoo Finance data. Will Golden Cross Help Ethereum (ETH)? Figuring Out the Possibility

Ethereum is headed for a potentially significant moving-average crossover, but it is still below resistance as the emerging golden-cross setup arrives. Ethereums recovery structure may be strengthened by the signal, but price must first do some of the necessary work to generate it. Right now, ETH is trading at about $1,874. While the 100-day moving average is still falling, close to $1,919, the 50-day moving average has turned upward and is now at about $1,824. As a result, there is less space between them in both directions. A bullish golden-cross configuration would be produced by Ethereum if the 50-day average eventually crossed above the 100-day average. ETH/USDT Chart by TradingView These crossovers show that the more recent price performance has surpassed the slower average, which represents the longer-term trend. The issue is that golden crosses are lagging indicators. Instead of raising the price, they validate an improvement that has already taken place. Therefore, in order for the crossover to occur, ETH must continue its recovery. Thats not a given. Since July, Ethereum has frequently struggled between $1,900 and $1,950. Additionally, a descending resistance line has formed across the most recent local highs, creating an additional barrier in the same area. Clear breakout being formed This region
