Ethereum Foundation Grades 62 EIPs for Hegotá Upgrade

James Ding Sep 07, 2026 16:31 Ethereum Foundations Protocol Cluster releases unified EIP tier list for Hegotá upgrade, highlighting priorities like decentralization and security. The Ethereum Foundation‘s Protocol Cluster has released a detailed breakdown of 62 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) ahead of the anticipated Hegotá network upgrade, scheduled for 2027. This marks the first time the group has published a unified tier list, integrating feedback from nine teams and individual contributors, totaling around 60 experts. The exercise offers a transparent view into Ethereum’s technical priorities as it continues to evolve post-Merge and post-Shanghai upgrades. At the top of the list is EIP-7805, dubbed FOCIL (Fully Optimized Consensus Inclusion Layer), which has been given an S-tier rating, signifying a “must-ship” status. FOCIL aims to decentralize transaction inclusion by reducing reliance on centralized builders. It is paired with EIP-8369, categorized as A-tier, which defines validator requirements for FOCIL eligibility. Together, these proposals are set to anchor the consensus-layer changes in Hegotá, emphasizing decentralization and security. The tiering methodology assigns grades from S (must ship) to DFI (declined for inclusion), based on criteria such as integration complexity, technical feasibility, and alignment with Ethereums long-term goals. Of the 62 EIPs evaluated, two are must-ship (S-tier), 15 are expected to

Inside The European Factory Where Robots Are Building Robots

I toured the Munich factory where Agile Robots is building robots … largely with other robots. Agile Robots Zhaopeng Chen read Isaac Asimov science fiction as a kid, and he never really stopped. Maybe thats why the Agile Robots new humanoid robot Agile One looks vaguely like the robots in the Will Smith I, Robot movie, based on the Asimov book of the same name. “Every single person on the planet will get a personal robot,” the founder and CEO of Agile Robots told me in Munich last week. “This is not going to be very far away. Its not in days, but in years, decades, it will be there.” That‘s a very big number — eight billion robots, give or take — from a man who has spent his career making very small ones. Chen got his PhD building robotic hands at the German Aerospace Center, spun Agile Robots out of DLR (Germany’s national aerospace and space research agency that also does robotics) in 2018, and has since put more than 20,000 automation systems into factories and warehouses worldwide. Reality check: as of today, almost nothing Agile Robots sells is a personal robot. The company sells arms, grippers, mobile robotic transport platforms, automation cells,

Bitcoin Rally Faces a Warning as Ethereum Sends a Bearish Signal

Bitcoins bounce faces a bearish warning as Ethereum fails to confirm further upside.BTC must break its range high and $82,793 resistance to confirm bullish momentum.A drop below $78,660 puts $76,968 in focus as the next key downside level. Bitcoin and Ethereum are sending different signals, and that difference is a warning for Bitcoin bulls. Bitcoin recently bounced after taking sell-side liquidity, showing short-term strength. Ethereum, however, already moved above its range high and took the buy-side liquidity around $2,526–$2,530 before falling back. Bitcoin has failed to make the same move. This creates a bearish SMT divergence between the two cryptocurrencies. Ethereum made a higher high while Bitcoin failed to confirm it. That tells us the recent strength in BTC is not fully supported by ETH. Bitcoin and Ethereum Show Different Strength Both assets have been trading within clear ranges, but their recent liquidity moves differed. Ethereum pushed above its range high and swept the buy-side liquidity around $2,526–$2,530. It then dropped back below that area and now trades near $2,494. Bitcoin took the opposite path. BTC swept sell-side liquidity below its range and then reversed higher, but it has not taken the liquidity above its range high. Coldcard Exploiter Moves 45% of Wave 3 Loot as Stolen Bitcoin Enters CoinJoins

Across all attack waves, 82% of stolen coins remain in attacker-controlled addresses, while 18% have been moved for laundering. The exploiter linked to the third wave of attacks on Coldcard wallets has now moved 45% of the coins stolen, according to Galaxy Research. The firm said the funds have been transferred either to Ethereum through THORChain or into Coinjoin, in an effort to launder the stolen assets. During Wave 3, the exploiter created 293 2-of-2 multisig vaults for victims coins. Wave 3 Haul The first movements on September 2 sent funds through THORChain to Ethereum, while the latest activity has moved into Coinjoin rounds. Galaxy Research said the operator has been systematically spending the largest share of the thefts according to their size ranking. Ranks 1 through 11 have already been moved. The next 10 unmoved vaults contain 30.81 BTC, while ranks 61 through 293 hold a combined 33.77 units. The latest transactions led Galaxy to identify a previously unknown vault linked to 58 addresses that are likely associated with Coldcard victims. Most of the funds stolen in the Coldcard exploit have yet to move. In fact, approximately 82%, across all waves, are still held in the attacker-controlled addresses where the coins were initially stored. The

Australia cancels registration of crypto provider GetCoins following customer scam complaints

Australias financial intelligence regulator AUSTRAC said Sept. 7 that it canceled, suspended or refused to renew 45 remittance and virtual asset provider registrations over the past year, highlighting how failures under the registration regime can cost businesses permission to operate. The disclosure covers both sectors, with AUSTRAC saying the actions removed those businesses from its registers. AUSTRAC CEO Brendan Thomas said businesses with canceled registrations can no longer operate. AUSTRAC also linked its earlier cancellation of GetCoins, a virtual asset service provider, to disruption of alleged cryptocurrency investment scams. The regulator identified the business as BA Digital Ventures Pty Ltd, trading as GetCoins. Its registration decision record dates the cancellation to June 4, 2026, placing the decision three months before the September announcement. AUSTRAC said it worked with the National Anti-Scam Centre on GetCoins following customer complaints. It requested information about the providers operations to assess its ability to manage money laundering risks. The regulator said GetCoins was allegedly exploited by organized cryptocurrency investment scams. AUSTRAC said its work with the anti-scam center and the cancellation helped disrupt organized investment scam activity. AUSTRAC described alleged exploitation of the provider by scams, without establishing that GetCoins itself organized them. The disclosure reports disruption of activity, but

Harmony plans to move ONE to Ethereum and shut mainnet

Harmony has proposed closing its seven-year-old Layer 1 blockchain, issuing ONE on Ethereum and directing future token emissions to a new AI video project. Harmony said in a Sept. 6 post that the mainnets exposure to “state actors” and “AI agents” has made continued operation too risky, leading the team to propose retiring the network it launched in 2019. The plan remains nonbinding, and Harmony has not announced when it will produce the blockchain‘s final block. The team also has not explained whether validators will decide the proposal through the network’s existing governance process. Under Harmonys published governance rules, a proposal must receive votes representing at least 51% of total stake weight. Approval requires support from 66.7% of the participating voting power after a seven-day introduction period and a 14-day vote. Harmony would recreate ONE balances on Ethereum Rather than asking holders to exchange their tokens manually, Harmony plans to take a snapshot at the final block and distribute replacement ONE tokens on Ethereum. The ERC-20 version would go to the same addresses recorded in the snapshot, removing the need for individual claims. The snapshot would cover ONE held in personal wallets, staking delegations, unclaimed validator rewards, smart contracts, and centralized exchange accounts. Harmony plans to

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin says AI wont break Bitcoin

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has pushed back against predictions that artificial intelligence could trigger a 50% Bitcoin crash within two years. The debate began after Silicon Valley investor and AI-risk commentator Liron Shapiro said he sees a 50% probability that Bitcoin will fall more than 50% over the next two years because AI undermines what investors believe are the networks security and robustness guarantees. However, Buterin took the other side of this position, saying: My basic reasons are that I am quite optimistic about cybersecurity in the long term and I see the primary problem as being getting the transition. Buterin argued that Bitcoin should be able to handle security failures that do not require social consensus, including attacks affecting clients, mining pools and other network infrastructure. He also placed a very low probability on AI producing a fundamental break in Bitcoins hashing functions or proof-of-work system. He said he would normally offer Shapiro a wager on the outcome, but his existing crypto holdings already amount to effectively making that bet with roughly 90% of his net worth. Buterin also suggested the same argument should apply to Ethereum. The disagreement captures a growing divide over what increasingly capable AI systems mean for crypto security. Shapiro‘s argument does
