Coinbase files to bring single-stock perpetual futures to US market

Coinbase has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to list single-stock perpetual futures in the United States, seeking to bring a derivatives product widely used in crypto markets to individual US equities. The filing, submitted Friday through Coinbase Derivatives, seeks regulatory approval for contracts that would give US traders 24/5 exposure to individual stocks without owning the underlying shares. Perpetual futures differ from traditional futures contracts in that they do not expire. Coinbase said the products would build on its existing US perpetual futures market, extending the structure beyond crypto assets. The proposed contracts are classified by the CFTC as single-stock futures and remain pending regulatory approval.Source: Coinbase The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Coinbase plans to initially offer perpetual futures tied to roughly 50 to 60 stocks, including Apple, Microsoft, Tesla and Nvidia. The CFTC filing follows an earlier regulatory step by Coinbase Derivatives, which filed a Form 1-N with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Sept. 1 to register as a national securities exchange for the purpose of offering security futures. Coinbase already offers stock perpetual futures to eligible traders outside the United States, having launched the product in March with contracts tracking major US stocks and indexes, including Apple

Malaysian Ringgit: External pressure but scope for reversal – OCBC

Christopher Wong at OCBC writes that the Malaysian Ringgit weakened during Thursdays Asian session on a firmer US Dollar and higher US Treasury yields after the FOMC, with USD/MYR briefly trading above 4.10 in an orderly move. He notes some pressure eased as the Dollar and yields retreated and Oil pulled back. Wong expects cautious MYR trading if US yields and the Dollar rise again, but sees room for recent weakness to reverse as post-Fed moves settle and domestic fundamentals remain supportive. USD/MYR overbought as fundamentals support “MYR weakened on Thursday Asian time zone amid firmer USD and higher UST yields post-FOMC. USD/MYR briefly traded above 4.10, although the move remained orderly and there was little sign of Malaysia-specific stress.” “That said, some pressure eased overnight as the USD and UST yields came off their highs, while oil also pulled back. Near term, MYR may trade cautious if UST yields and the USD push higher again.” “But as the post-Fed rates move starts to settle, there should be room for some of the recent weakness to reverse, with domestic fundamentals still broadly supportive.” “Bullish momentum on daily chart intact but RSI rose into overbought conditions. Lack of follow-through to the upside may see USD/MYR turn

Bitcoin, crypto market react as CFTC files crypto regulation proposal

Bitcoin (BTC) rises above $80,000 on Friday, erasing losses from earlier in the week as the crypto market pushed a leg higher. The move comes as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) pushed for a crypto asset market regulations proposal, signaling regulators intent to establish oversight after Congress stalled comprehensive legislation. CFTC pushes for crypto asset regulations amid CLARITY Act delay The proposal, submitted Thursday to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), part of the Office of Management and Budget, is titled Regulation Crypto Asset Transactions and Regulation Crypto Asset Markets. Although the filing details are not yet available, OIRAs submissions website indicates it has been received and is pending regulatory approval. The CFTC‘s latest proposal could align with the agency’s plan to establish a regime for the crypto market. It also comes just two days after Chairman Michael Selig said the agency was “ready to ship rules” after the Senate failed to advance crypto market structure legislation. While the legislative path for comprehensive reform is uncertain amid upcoming midterm elections, agencies are filling the gap with incremental measures. Regulators began seeking relief rules to cover Congress‘s shortfall, with the CFTC rolling out a no-action position for providers of passive software. The Commission’s

Matt Hougan Compares Tokenization Boom with Nvidias Early AI Rally

Key Insights:Matt Hougan points to tokenization, S&Ps acquisition of OpenZeppelin, and the rise of DeFi assets as signs of broader onchain adoption.Hougan describes tokenization as a multi-year transformation of how financial markets operate. He compares tokenizations early stage with the AI boom, citing NVIDIAs rise from $16 in 2022 to $219 today. Tokenization took center stage on September 17, 2026, when Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan posted on X that the trend had become impossible to ignore. On the same day, the SEC created a pathway for tokenized stocks to trade in the United States, S&P Global agreed to acquire OpenZeppelin, and DeFi assets moved higher. Hougan wrote that any remaining doubts should now be settled: “The world is moving onchain.” He framed tokenization as a multi-year transformation of finance, not a short-term trade. To illustrate the point, he reached for the early days of the AI boom. ChatGPT launched in November 2022 when NVIDIA traded at $16. One year later, the stock had climbed 176 percent to $46, and the AI megatrend was obvious. Hougan said the right move was not to regret missing out, but to buy more. NVIDIA now trades at $219. The same logic applies to tokenization, he argued. Investors who wish

Source: TradingViewCan whale positioning push HYPE higher? The whales $119.66 million position showed substantial exposure as HYPE approached its previous all-time high. Its average entry price stood at $38.68, leaving the position deeply profitable at current prices. That distance signaled continued conviction, although it also introduced a possible profit-taking risk. The 5x leverage could amplify the position‘s returns, but any sharp reversal would increase its liquidation pressure. Therefore, the position strengthened HYPE’s bullish narrative without removing the risks surrounding a crowded rally. Source: SantimentIs network activity backing HYPE? US Treasury yields rose on Friday, boosted mainly by the Federal Reserves decision to increase rates on Wednesday, while the Bank of Japan added its name to the list of major central banks focused on preventing inflation from getting out of control. Treasury yields climb as Fed and BoJ hikes reinforce inflation fears The yield on the US 10-year Treasury note is up over six basis points at 5%, shy of Tuesdays 5.041%, the highest since 2007. Binance launches 24/7 FX perps with weekend pricing system

Binance is expanding its derivatives offering into foreign exchange with the launch of 24/7 perpetual futures, starting with a US dollar-Brazilian real contract on Monday. Unlike traditional FX markets, which close for the weekend, Binances contracts will trade continuously using a dual-mode pricing system. During regular FX trading hours, prices will track a weighted index from third-party data providers, while weekends and public holidays will use an orderbook-based pricing mechanism. The USDBRLUSDT contract will go live on Sept. 21, settle in USDT and offer up to 100x leverage, according to a Friday announcement. Binance said the weekend system uses an exponentially weighted moving average of orderbook prices, rather than relying on external price feeds. Binance trading head Shunyet Jan said the contracts are intended to extend price discovery beyond traditional FX trading hours, while giving traders a venue to hedge or take positions around the clock. Related: Binance brushes off Lagarde MiCA speculation, reaffirms Europe commitment Crypto exchanges expand into foreign exchange The launch comes less than two weeks after Bybit introduced 24/7 perpetuals tracking EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY, also settled in USDT and offering up to 100x leverage.
