2024 Web3 Funding Report: Public Sales Account for Over 80%, Retail Investors Band Together

Since March 2024, the cryptocurrency market has experienced a significant pullback, with most altcoins (excluding Bitcoin, Ethereum, and similar tokens), especially some mainstream altcoins, dropping more than 50% from their peak. However, newly listed tokens have remained largely unaffected. Through the study of over 2,000 token issuance cases, we found that early-stage projects with fundraising amounts in the millions have seen their native token prices remain stable, exhibiting independent trends from the broader market.　　Funding Scale and Maturity of Sectors　　Web3 itself is not an industry but a technological stack transforming all industries. Additionally, no two Web3 sectors are identical, as founders‘ backgrounds and the blockchain solutions they provide vary. As a result, different sectors in Web3 have diverse capital requirements. To clarify capital needs across sectors, we combined funding size with each sector’s stage of fundraising, from early 2024 to August 11, and produced the following chart:X-axis: Stage of project fundraising.Y-axis: Average amount raised by projects.Bubble size: Represents the number of fundraising events per project.　　The chart is divided diagonally into yellow and blue areas, with blue indicating sectors with lower fundraising, and yellow representing capital-intensive sectors.　　Token Funding　　We analyzed 375 projects between the start of the year and August 11. These projects

The Arrival of ETH MEME Season? Can EtherVista Ignite Activity on the Ethereum Network?

After the meme frenzy sparked by Pump.fun on Solana and Sunpump on Tron, the Ethereum network finally witnessed the emergence of a new DEX protocol called EtherVista at the start of September, bringing users a powerful wealth effect.　　On September 1, a new token called VISTA gained attention due to its massive price surge. Initially launched at approximately $0.014, the token has experienced an increase of over 10,000x. Before its launch, EtherVistas official Twitter announced that there would be no pre-sale or team pre-allocation, and that the team would use its own funds to purchase tokens simultaneously with other users in a fair manner.　　EtherVista, which launched just 7 day ago on Ethereum, describes itself as a “DEX challenging Uniswap” and has been dubbed “Ethereums Pump.fun” by some token holders. Data shows that within a week, the amount of ETH burned via EthVista surpassed that of Uniswap. What are EtherVista‘s standout mechanisms？　　According to EtherVista’s six-page whitepaper, the protocol introduces a new model where fees are paid exclusively in ETH and distributed to liquidity providers and token creators participating in the pool. Each transaction triggers a novel reward distribution mechanism while maintaining low gas fees.　　Unlike Uniswap, EtherVistas core feature is that market makers and

The Hidden Agenda Behind Frontier’s Rebranding: A Fourfold Token Issuance

On August 19, 2024, Binance announced its plan to support the token swap and rebranding of Frontier (FRONT) to Self Chain (SLF). Binance stopped trading and delisted all existing FRONT spot trading pairs on August 27, 2024, and opened new SLF trading pairs (SLF/BTC, SLF/TRY, SLF/USDC, and SLF/USDT) on August 30, 2024. According to the announcement, FRONT was swapped for SLF at a 1:1 ratio.　　However, concerns arose regarding the issuance of $SLF, as noted in the announcement, which caught the attention and suspicion of the community.Token Swap Becomes Token Issuance　　The rebranding and token swap were considered typical in the crypto industry, as many well-known projects have undergone similar processes, such as Polkadot and Polygon. For example, in 2020, the Polkadot community passed a resolution to redenominate the DOT token by 1:100, increasing the total supply from 10 million to 1 billion. This year, Polygon initiated a 1:1 token swap of MATIC to POL, maintaining the original supply of 10 billion tokens.　　However, in the case of Frontier, the token swap involved an issuance, and holders did not receive corresponding compensation. The total supply increased from 90 million to 360 million tokens, resulting in a 75% dilution in value for users. Most

The Crypto Hack Storm: Massive Funds Stolen and North Korean Attack Tactics Evolving

According to PeckShields monitoring statistics, in August 2024, over 10 hacking incidents occurred in the crypto sector, resulting in a loss of approximately $313.86 million. Beosins analysis revealed that the attacker exploited the claimRewards function in the market contract, using a reentrancy attack to inflate the staking contract balance and extract surplus staked assets.　　Summary of the attack process:　　1. The attacker created an attack contract and built the corresponding market contract via the official factory.　　2. The attacker called the batchHarvestMarketRewards function to update market rewards.　　3. During the reward update, the claimRewards function was called back, allowing the attacker to stake flash-loaned assets, creating a discrepancy in the staking contract and extracting the surplus.　　4. The attacker

CoinShares: Stronger Macroeconomic Data Led to $305 Million Outflow from Digital Asset Funds

CoinShares latest report reveals that global crypto investment products from asset management firms such as Ark Invest, Bitwise, BlackRock, Fidelity, Grayscale, ProShares, and 21Shares experienced a net outflow of $305 million last week, following a net inflow of $543 million the previous week.　　James Butterfill, Head of Research at CoinShares, stated that the outflows were driven by “negative sentiment across all providers and regions,” which stemmed from stronger-than-expected U.S. economic data that “reduced the likelihood of a 50 basis point rate cut.”　　Butterfill added, “As the Federal Reserve approaches a rate pivot, we continue to expect this asset class to become increasingly sensitive to interest rate expectations.”Negative Sentiment Focused on Bitcoin　　Butterfill noted that the negative sentiment was primarily focused on Bitcoin, with investment products based on the leading cryptocurrency seeing net outflows of $319 million last week. In contrast, short Bitcoin funds recorded inflows of $4.4 million for the second consecutive week, marking the largest inflow since March.　　According to The Blocks report on Saturday, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs alone saw net outflows of $277.2 million last week, with ETFs experiencing a monthly net outflow of $94.2 million for the first time since April. This compares to a total net inflow of $3.2
