Why Bessents “Grow Your Way Out” Debt Strategy Is A Mathematical Fantasy

Sustaining long-term U.S. GDP growth without boosting productivity is a mathematical fantasy. getty The United States has hit a historic fiscal precipice. Publicly held national debt has breached 100% of gross domestic product (GDP), and gross national debt has soared past $40 trillion. In response, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and administration officials have pitched an alluring escape hatch: growing the economy out of the crunch. By targeting a sustained 3% annual GDP growth rate, the administration argues that an artificial-intelligence build-out, reshored manufacturing, and sweeping tax cuts will cause the economy to boom faster than the nation borrows. However, this supply-side narrative overlooks a fundamental economic reality. The U.S. cannot achieve or sustain a high-growth era while ignoring severe structural deficiencies in its own foundation. To truly fix its fiscal trajectory, the U.S. requires aggressive public investment in elementary school education, modern infrastructure, and efficient healthcare. Yes, cut taxes, but for the working and middle classes. The Illusion of 3% Growth The administrations strategy relies on a supply-side framework: using tax cuts, deregulation, and tariffs to spur immediate private-sector activity. However, standard economic models suggest that sustaining the necessary 3% to 4% long-term GDP growth is mathematically almost impossible without boosting the core pillars of

Charles Hoskinson Says AI Has Destroyed The Old Crypto Growth Metric

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson says artificial intelligence (AI) has destroyed the value of developer counts. Blockchains have leaned on the figure for years to prove they are growing. He spoke on Sunday in defense of Midnight, a privacy-focused blockchain built on Cardano. Its foundation recently cut part of the team that recruits outside coders and shifted focus toward what Hoskinson calls builders. Why Developer Counts Stopped Working For a decade, blockchains ranked themselves by how many engineers wrote code for them. A human coder was scarce, so the tally meant something. AI coding assistants removed that scarcity. Anyone can now ship working software without understanding it, Hoskinson argues. “You can have people who have no technical knowledge and no experience use these tools to look like a developer. So its no longer a scarce and finite resource,” he said in a broadcast on Sunday. Follow us on X to get the latest news as it happens The practical problem is verification. Code bounties and hackathons now invite entrants to pass off AI output as their own work. Teams then burn time interrogating authorship rather than attracting projects. Hoskinson wants ventures with paying users and outside investors instead. BeInCrypto reported in June that he was rebuilding Midnight City development strategy

DOJ Strike Force Seizes Scam Marketplace, Restrains $52M in Crypto

Treasury designated Xinbi a transnational criminal organization as prosecutors moved against its crypto holdings. The Justice Departments Scam Center Strike Force, working with the Treasury Department, seized a Chinese-language scam marketplace called Xinbi Guarantee and restrained about $52 million in cryptocurrency in a single day, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced this week. That operation brought the total the Strike Force has restrained since its founding to roughly $938 million. A separate Strike Force team also spent the same stretch helping authorities in Madagascar take down 13 Chinese-run scam compounds, pushing the crackdown launched last November well beyond its original footprint in Southeast Asia. Inside the Xinbi Takedown Xinbi ran almost entirely on Telegram, in Chinese, functioning as a kind of marketplace where vendors advertised services to scam center operators: building custom fraud investment websites, “washing” money stolen through wire fraud, and recruiting trafficking victims to staff scam compounds. Xinbi itself held payments in escrow until a vendor finished the job, which is how prosecutors say they were able to trace specific victim funds to vendors who posted wallet addresses on the channel. A federal court in Washington authorized the seizure of those Telegram channels on September 7, and prosecutors unsealed the warrant Wednesday. Investigators seized two

Trump dismisses AI risk warnings as 'very negative forces' in China race

On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump played down the rising alarm bells about artificial intelligence and said that the exaggerated concerns could hamper Americas race against China as worldwide AI investments are expected to cross the $1 trillion mark this year. While speaking at his golf club in Doonbeg, Ireland, Trump took the side of the “go faster” argument in the ongoing debate that is currently taking place in Washington and the AI sector. The key issue for the market, however, is whether speed strengthens Americas position in the race or leads to the emergence of new safety, financial, and fragmentation risks in the global AI industry. ‘Whoever wins AI wins’ Trump was asked if he believes AI needs less aggressive development or stricter regulation. He agreed with the possibility of regulations but expressed that he believes the people warning about the repercussions of AI coming is unwarranted. “Whoever wins AI wins.” — Donald Trump His statements correlate with the AI Action Plan launched by the White House in July 2025, where more than 90 federal actions were proposed to facilitate further innovation, growth of infrastructure, and the strengthening of the position of the U.S in the AI race. Is Bitcoins 4-Year Cycle Broken? Analysts Question the Old Halving Pattern

TLDR:Past Bitcoin cycle bottoms landed between 770 and 900 days after halvings in 2012, 2016, 2020.Bitcoin posted a new all-time high before this cycles halving, breaking the historical timing pattern.Spot ETF inflows now tie Bitcoins price more to macro liquidity than to halving supply shocks.A viral X post argues the four-year cycle is compressing, not disappearing, altering timelines. Is the Bitcoin 4-year cycle broken? That question is gaining traction as this cycle unfolds differently from the last three. Previous cycle bottoms in 2012, 2016, and 2020 formed between day 770 and 900 after halvings, per CryptoQuant data. This time, Bitcoin posted a fresh all-time high before the halving even occurred. That early move has left traders divided on whether the historical rhythm still holds or has finally given way. Capital Structure Raises Doubts About the Old Pattern Spot ETF approvals opened the door for large institutional inflows ahead of the halving. Institutional allocators typically base decisions on monetary policy, interest rates, and broader liquidity. They do not track days elapsed since a halving event. This approach differs sharply from the retail-driven cycles seen in 2012, 2016, and 2020. Wealth Managers Show Crypto Interest Despite a 67% Allocation Gap

TLDR:Wealth managers show a wide gap between current crypto allocation and future intent, with 67% unallocated and 60% planning exposure. The same 60% share expects crypto prices to finish 2026 higher, giving the informal poll a constructive market view despite limited exposure.XRP generated the most questions during the Bitwise presentation, while Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Hyperliquid, stablecoins, and tokenization drew attention.Bitwise and VettaFi survey data shows 32% of advisors allocated to crypto in 2025, while 42% could buy it for client accounts. An informal Bitwise poll shows 67% of roughly 400 wealth managers have no crypto allocation in client portfolios. The same audience signals possible future demand. Sixty percent plan to add exposure within 12 months, while another 60% expect crypto prices to finish 2026 higher. No allocation size was disclosed publicly. The responses capture interest and intent, but they do not represent a randomized survey of the wider industry. Participants attended a Bitwise presentation, which may attract professionals already tracking digital assets closely. The poll therefore shows the distance between discussion and implementation within firms today. It also captures how wealth managers now view Bitcoin, altcoins, stablecoins, tokenization, and related investment products globally.
