NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2026 – Varys Capital and Verda Ventures today announced the publication of LATAM: Beyond the Acronym — Disaggregating Technological & Financial Investment Opportunities Across Latin America, a 70-page analysis of the forces reshaping investment across one of the worlds most diverse emerging markets. Rather than treating Latin America as a single investment destination, the report identifies four distinct market archetypes: Scale Markets, Stable Builders, Crisis Innovators, and Frontier Markets. Each is shaped by different economic conditions, financial infrastructure, regulatory environments, levels of digital adoption and entrepreneurial ecosystems. The reports central finding is that fragmentation itself can be an investment signal. Differences in purchasing power, monetary stability, financial access, regulation and digital infrastructure mean that neighboring countries can face fundamentally different problems, and therefore generate fundamentally different opportunities for technology and financial innovation. “Latin America is not one investment story,” said Thomas Dunleavy, Head of Venture at Varys Capital. “It is a collection of markets operating under different constraints, incentives and innovation cycles.” Sponsored Sponsored One of the clearest examples is the growing role of stablecoins and digital dollars as financial infrastructure. Across parts of Latin America, these assets are moving beyond speculation and are increasingly used for savings, payments, remittances and treasury management,

Binances EU services face scrutiny over licensing exemption: Report

European regulators are reportedly scrutinizing Binance‘s use of a legal exemption to continue serving customers in the European Union without authorization under the bloc’s crypto rules. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and regulators in France, Germany and Greece are examining Binances use of reverse solicitation under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), the Financial Times reported on Thursday. Binance withdrew its Greek MiCA application in June and said it would seek authorization in another EU member state. Binance told Cointelegraph on Sept. 18 that it continues pursuing MiCA authorization and remains committed to operating in Europe on a long-term compliant basis. Reverse solicitation under scrutiny Binance is relying on reverse solicitation to continue serving some EU customers, the report said, citing a person familiar with the matter. The exemption allows non-EU crypto asset service providers (CASPs) to serve customers who approach them entirely on their own initiative, but ESMAs guidelines stress that companies cannot use it to circumvent MiCA requirements.
