Ethereum Completes Shanghai, Biggest Upgrade Since The Merge

Ethereum Nakumpleto ng Ethereum ang Shanghai, Pinakamalaking Pag-upgrade Mula Noong Pagsamahin Ethereum‘s Shanghai update went live Wednesday, completing the blockchain’s transition to proof-of-stake. ETH is up 2.28% in the last 24 hours, so far defying predictions of a price drop. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin hailed the upgrade as the end of “the hardest and fastest” stages of the blockchains roadmap. Ethereum, the blockchain underpinning the second-biggest cryptocurrency ETH, successfully implemented its much anticipated ‘Shanghai’ upgrade on Wednesday. The update, also known as ‘Shapella’, enabled validators to withdraw staked ETH for the first time, and brought Ethereum significantly closer to the completion of its multi-year transition to a full proof-of-stake network. In a proof-of-stake system, users pledge coins as a form of guarantee to help validate new data on the blockchain in return for rewards, a process called staking. Prior to Wednesdays update, it was not possible to withdraw staked ETH or redeem accrued rewards. Staked ETH currently accounts for about 15% of the total supply of Ether tokens, according to crypto data platform Dune Analytics, and are worth approximately $31 billion. ETH is up 2.28% in the last 24 hours, so far defying expectations of a post-upgrade ‘wave of selling’ that would depress its price. Speaking at a

Can Ethereum crack $2K? ETH price inches closer despite new unlocked supply

The price of Ethereum‘s Ether (ETH) token came just a few dollars from hitting $2,000 a day after the launch of the network’s long-anticipated Shanghai upgrade. Ethereum ducks sell-the-news fears On April 13, Ethers price gained roughly 4% to reach an intraday high of $1,996 on Coinbase, ignoring the potential selloff pressure the Shanghai upgrade could potentially bring to the market. To recap: the Shanghai hard fork, also known as “Shapella,” enables users to withdraw their ETH from Ethereums proof-of-stake smart contract. As of 09:00 UTC, April 13, over 98,000 ETH worth around $194.8 million has left Ethereums voting balance reserves since the Shanghai launch a day ago, according to Nansen. In other words, nearly $200 million in potential selling pressure has entered the market. But Ether‘s price rise since the Shanghai launch suggests that the market had no problem absorbing any selling pressure arising from this event so far. It’s also possible that most users have decided to hold onto their ETH staking rewards rather than sell them in anticipation of further gains. About 15% of Ethereums total supply in circulation, nearly 120.4 million ETH, is currently staked. Interestingly, more than 70% of the ETH staked is still underwater compared to current price levels, according to

Ethereum Price Rises By 2.8% Post Upgrade: Will Withdrawals Hinder The Progress?

The Ethereum (ETH) ecosystem has successfully transitioned to a proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanism with the Shapella/Shanghai upgrade achieved at epoch 194048 at 22.27 UTC on April 12. The upgrade is a significant milestone for the Ethereum network, as it moves away from the previous proof-of-work (PoW) consensus mechanism to a more energy-efficient PoS mechanism. Ether Price Up 2.8% in Past 24 Hours Following the upgrade, the Ether price is up approximately 2.8% in the past 24 hours to trade around $1,924 on Thursday. The weekly bar is retesting last Augusts highs, which are considered a significant resistance level. Analysts Monitor On-Chain Data for Withdrawals With withdrawals of the 18 million staked Ether estimated at around 50,400 ETH daily, crypto analysts are closely monitoring the on-chain data to identify the pressure of sell and buy. According to data provided by token.unlock, about 695,750 Ether is currently pending withdrawal. Withdrawals Underway Following the successful Shapella upgrade, on-chain analysis platform Spot On Chain identified 17,091 Ethers worth approximately $32 million withdrawn from the staking program. The firm noted that the first 5,757 ETH have already been processed. This comes after the firm identified several ETH whale transactions that depicted bearish sentiment. Nonetheless, Twitter user @LucasNuzzi has identified big spot orders on Coinbase

Ethereum Shapella Upgrade is Now Live: Here is How it is Already Affecting the ETH Price

The Ethereum Shanghai Capella upgrade, also known as “Shapella,” has successfully completed. This highly anticipated upgrade is a significant milestone for the Ethereum ecosystem and marks the completion of its famous transition to a full proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. With the upgrade, users can withdraw their staked ETH, a crucial feature of the new proof-of-stake system. Withdrawals After the Upgrade The Shanghai upgrade was triggered at 22:27 GMT and finalized at about 22:42 GMT. Within half an hour after the upgrade was activated, nearly 285 withdrawals in epoch 194,408 had been processed, for about 5,413 ETH ($10 million worth). As per Coin Metrics, 1.2 million ETH tokens worth over $2.3 billion as of the current price will be available for withdrawals over the next four to five days. Notably, not all 18 million ETH staked on the network will be available for withdrawal at once, as limits have been kept on this. Ethereum will only permit 1,350 full validators to withdraw their stake each day over the next 18 months. Because each validator stakes 32 ETH, no more than 43,200 ETH—which is $83 million at current prices—can enter the market per day. Impact on ETH Price At the time the Shanghai hard fork was triggered, the

Ethereum May Head for New 2023 High After Shapella Upgrade

Ethereum developers have confirmed that the Shapella upgrade is stable. Meanwhile, ETH prices are poised to revisit an eight-month high. The long-awaited Ethereum Shapella upgrade has been deployed without a hitch. On April 13, lead developer Tim Beiko confirmed that the network was stable. A few hours ago, he kilala a few minor glitches, but all was good. “A couple missed blocks early on, likely due to the large number of BLS changes to gossip, but overall its looking stable now.” Ethereum Staking Unleashed Fears of a mass exodus of staked ETH and a flood on markets have been alleviated. Glassnode reported that an additional 2,381 validators joined the exit queue in the week preceding the Shanghai upgrade. This brought the total to 3,579 as of a few hours ago. It added that this was equivalent to 114,528 ETH withdrawn, or 0.6% of the total stake. It confirmed that not all of this will be released at once, however: “Only 57,600 ETH will be released per day as the queue regulates exit amounts.” Cumulative ETH Staking Exits Chart by glassnode On April 12, BeInCrypto reported that less than 1% of the staked ETH is likely to be sold. Coin Metrics estimated that around 1.2 million ETH could be withdrawn over

Ethereum Shanghai Upgrade Go Live With ETH Price Steady

The worlds second-largest cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH) continues to hold above the $1,900 level as developers successfully carry out the Ethereum Shanghai upgrade, also dubbed Shapella. Ethereums lead development Tim Beiko confirmed the Shanghai upgrade calling it “official”. This is a major upgrade for the Ethereum community as it allows users to withdraw their staked ETH ever since the launch of the Beacon chain. As per the details, the Shanghai upgrade was triggered at 22:27 UTC and finalized at about 22:42 UTC. Nearly 30 minutes after the activation of the Shanghai upgrade, the system processed nearly 285 withdrawals in epoch 194,408, for about 5,413 ETH ($10 million worth). According to Coin Metrics, nearly 1.2 million ETH tokens worth over $2.3 billion as of the current price are withdrawals over the next five days. Moreover, a total of $36.7 billion of Ether (ETH) has been locked for staking. During the live stream of the Shanghai upgrade, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said: “We‘re in a stage where the hardest and fastest parts of the Ethereum protocol’s transition are basically over. Very significant things still need to be done, but those very significant things can be safely done at a slower pace.” He said that post the Shanghai upgrade,

SoftBank Moves to Slash Alibaba Stake, Fueling $13 Billion Slump

(Bloomberg) — SoftBank Group Corp. is moving to sell the majority of its stake in Chinese internet giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., the Financial Times reported, the latest sign of long-time China investors lowering their exposure there. The Japanese technology investor has sold more than $7 billion in Alibaba shares this year through prepaid forward contracts, after selling $29 billion last year, according to the newspaper. The contracts give SoftBank the option to buy the shares back, but the group has settled previous deals by handing over the stock, the Financial Times reported. Pummeled by losses on its startup bets, SoftBank has said it would prioritize financial discipline before seeking the right time to go on the offensive with investments. Investors are also speculating if the company will launch another buyback program. Alibaba shares fell as much as 5.2% in Hong Kong on Thursday, erasing about $13 billion of market value. SoftBank shares were little changed in Tokyo after dropping about 8% this year through Wednesdays close. The sales will reduce the Japanese conglomerate‘s ownership of Alibaba to less than 4%, the paper said, citing its analysis of regulatory filings. That’s down from around a 14.6% stake the company said it was slated to

U.S.’s Influence May Ascend Due to Actions Against Crypto: Report

crypto U.S.s Influence May Ascend Due to Actions Against Crypto: Report 2 minuto ang nakalipas Balita ng Ethereum ng Bitcoin Andreessen Horowitzs a16z released a report about the current state of crypto in the U.S. The report suggests that action against the crypto industry might damage U.S. influence. A recent report from a16z hints that with recent attacks on crypto, the U.S. might lose its edge on the global stage. Released on April 11, the report links the recent enforcement actions and court cases against crypto entities and argues that they might diminish Americas leadership in digital assets. The Report by a16z and Current U.S. Crypto Scenario The recent report by Andreessen Horowitzs a16z highlights some parameters that were declined due to crypto activities in the U.S. For instance, in 2018, around 40% of developers were in the States, This figure dropped in 2022 to 30%. The crypto-related websites saw a considerable decline in their U.S. user base for the third year. In 2019 the user traffic was around 23%, while in 2022, it went down to 15%. This declining user traffic can be linked to increasing Web3 influence. The report then suggests pointers for the regulators to act upon. Recent activities show that banning new technologies and business models seriously hampers American values,
