Fidelity Follows BlackRock’s Lead, Files For Spot Ethereum ETF

Fidelity has decided to join rival BlackRock and double down on crypto, filing for a spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Fidelity and BlackRock are also locked in a race for a spot Bitcoin ETF, something that could change crypto investing in the United States permanently. Fidelity Files For Spot Ethereum ETF Fidelity has become the latest financial giant to file for a spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on the 17th of November. The filing, submitted by Cboe BZX, described a proposed rule change that would allow it to list and trade shares of Fidelity‘s planned ETF. The proposal closely resembles Fidelity’s spot Bitcoin ETF proposal, submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission in June. The Fidelity Ethereum Fund would be listed by an exchange owned by Cboe Global Markets. However, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission must decide whether to approve the Ethereum ETF. It still needs to approve other applications, such as the one from asset manager BlackRock, revealed earlier this month. BlackRock had submitted an S-1 filing for its spot Ethereum ETF just a couple of days ago, on the 15th of November, while applying

Ethereum Classic (ETC) Has Broken Above a Key Resistance Zone, Whats Next?

In recent market developments, Ethereum Classic (ETC) has showcased pronounced volatility, capturing the attention of cryptocurrency investors and analysts alike. Over the previous week, Ethereum Classic (ETC) experienced a notable upswing in its value, registering a 4.0% increase as its price escalated from $19.07 to a peak of $20.04. Despite this upward trend, the cryptocurrency witnessed a temporary retraction, dipping to $20.39 by Friday afternoon. The volatility of Ethereum Classic is not occurring in isolation but is part of a larger narrative unfolding within the crypto industry. Analysts point to the growing anticipation surrounding the potential approval of a Bitcoin ETF by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a key factor influencing market movements. The impact of these market dynamics on Ethereum Classic (ETC) is particularly significant. The approval of a Bitcoin ETF is widely expected to enhance liquidity and deepen market participation, yet it also introduces the possibility of amplified volatility. Larger capital inflows, driven by institutional investments, may lead to more pronounced price movements, as even minor trading activities could have magnified effects on the market. For Ethereum Classic (ETC), this period represents a crucial juncture. It highlights the delicate balance between regulatory developments, investor sentiment, and market dynamics.

Fidelity files for spot Ethereum ETF, trailing BlackRock’s lead by two days

Fidelity Investments has filed for a spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF), as seen in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Nov. 17. Cboe BZX submitted a 19b-4 filing describing a proposed rule change that would allow it to list and trade shares of Fidelity‘s planned fund. The new Ethereum proposal closely resembles Fidelity’s spot Bitcoin ETF proposal, submitted to the SEC in late June. Both Fidelity filings follow similar applications from the companys main competitor, BlackRock. BlackRock submitted an S-1 filing for its spot Ethereum ETF just days ago, on Nov. 15, and applied for its spot Bitcoin ETF months earlier in June. The close timing between the competing filings may be explained by each asset managers exceptionally high standing. BlackRock is the largest asset manager in the world, with $9 trillion in assets under management. Fidelity, on the other hand, is the third largest asset manager in the world, with $4.2 trillion in assets under management. Other firms have pending applications Several other asset managers have also applied for their own spot Bitcoin ETFs and spot Ethereum ETFs following the above high-profile filings. The SEC is expected to approve or reject a Bitcoin ETF by Jan. 10, 2024. That decision concerns

Ethereum Tests Crucial Support But Won’t Drop Below $1,850: Here’s Why To Be Bullish On ETH Price

In recent hours, the market has experienced significant liquidations. Bitcoin‘s price touched the $38K resistance mark only to trigger sellers to open short positions. Consequently, the price of Bitcoin nearly dropped by $1,000, while Ethereum’s price lost its momentum above $2,000, now hovering around a critical support level. Despite this, Ethereum is showing signs of a comeback. On-chain metrics indicate an increasing accumulation, which is acting as a buffer against any decline. ETHBTC Touches 1-Week Low The latest data from Coinglass indicates significant market movements. In the past 24 hours, there was a liquidation event as Ethereum (ETH) struggled to maintain its value above $2,000. This downturn led to the liquidation of long positions worth approximately $37.5 million, strengthening the resistance level as the price did not meet buyers expectations. Further insights from TradingView show that the ETH/BTC pair has reached its lowest point of the week, trading at 0.053. This trend points to an increase in selling activities in the market. Additionally, there appears to be a decreased interest from major investors, or “whales,” as Ethereums price could not surpass the $2,100 threshold. Data from IntoTheBlock reveals a decline in whale transactions, dropping from a high of $6.6 billion to around $4

SEC delays decision on Hashdex ETH ETF rule change

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has delayed a decision on Hashdexs proposed ethereum ETF rule change. The move, confirmed by a filing dated Nov. 15, comes just days after the regulator similarly delayed Hashdexs bitcoin ETF proposal. If the SEC were to approve the rule change, the ETF would hold future and spot ether contracts. According to the SECs filing, the Commission now has until Jan. 1, 2024 to make a decision or “institute proceedings to determine whether to disapprove the proposed rule change.” The delay is one of the handful expected this week, including SEC decisions on the Franklin Templeton proposed spot bitcoin ETF. The SEC also postponed a decision on Grayscale proposed ethereum ETF rule change on Nov. 15. The Grayscale delay, as noted by Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart, was not “remotely surprising.” This isnt the first round of SEC delays on recent bitcoin or ether spot ETF applications, either. Back in late September, the agency delayed the BlackRock and Valkyrie spot bitcoin ETF decisions. Throughout the years, the SEC has issued over 30 rejections to a number of filers including the Winklevoss twins. The spot bitcoin race really began heating up in July of this year after BlackRock — the worlds largest asset

Spot Ethereum ETF Proposal Naantala ng SEC

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has postponed its decision on the Hashdex Nasdaq Ethereum ETF application until 2024. The delay follows closely on the heels of another recent postponement. As reported by U.Today, the SEC has also deferred Hashdexs Bitcoin ETF conversion attempt. The race for a spot Ethereum ETF Surprisingly, there is a notable race to launch a spot Ethereum ETF. BlackRock, the top manager, has recently entered the fray by officially filing for a spot Ethereum ETF with the formidable regulator. The product, which is aimed at mirroring the performance of Ether‘s price, comes after BlackRock’s June filing for a spot Bitcoin ETF. This development indicates that investment behemoths of the likes of BlackRock are becoming increasingly comfortable with the second-largest cryptocurrency despite its murky regulatory status. In various instances, SEC Chair Gensler has refrained from categorically stating whether Ether is considered a security under U.S. law. For instance, during an April congressional hearing, Gensler did not give a direct answer when questioned about Ether‘s status as a security. In earlier statements, Gensler had suggested that Ether might be considered a security, especially following Ethereum’s transition to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism Expectations for SEC approval in 2024 James Seyffart, an analyst with Bloomberg
